31 Signal Regiment AssociationIntroducing the AssociationThe Association was formed in 1983. Its aim is to provide a focus for former members of the Regiment by means of a regular programme of events. The Association newsletter provides regular updates of news of members and the Regiment. The Association has its own Welfare Officer, and can provide help and support in case of need. The Association actively supports the Regiment in recording and preserving its heritage. The Regimental Historian is a member of the Association Committee and in early 2002 the Association published an illustrated history of the Regiment to commemorate the thirty-fifth anniversary of its formation. The Association is affiliated to the Royal Signals Association. Regimental Officers 1974 Benefits of Membership and Social ActivitiesThe principal benefit of membership is the opportunity to take part in a range of activities, both social and commemorative, enjoying the company of former colleagues. Almost all activities are open to members' partners and friends. The main social event is the Association's Annual Dinner normally held in March or April at RHQ Southfields. For many years the Association has organised an annual weekend trip to the continent. Past itineraries have included the war cemeteries of Normandy, Brussels and the Belgian countryside, Rheims and the battlefield at Verdun. Closer to home, visits have included the 'Ceremony of the Keys' at HM The Tower of London, the House of Commons and the War Cabinet Rooms. Other regular functions include an autumn Cheese and Wine gathering, the opportunity to join the Regiment at its annual Carol Service gathering, and (operational considerations permitting) the opportunity to visit the Regiment at Annual Camp. Membership Subscriptions and Application to JoinIndividual Membership is available to any former member of the Regiment and to anyone else approved by the Association's Committee. The current annual subscription is £5. Serving members of the Regiment receive all the benefits of membership under a Corporate Membership.
