Royal Signals Association - Branch Information Manager

Volunteers are needed to fill the posts of Branch Information Manager within some branches. If after reading the information on this page you would like to offer your services, please contact your Branch secretary or Association Headquarters at: rsa@royalsignals.mod.uk

A Branch Information Manager(BIM) is a semi computer literate person, who is prepared to type up information (or scan in and convert to text) and provide photographs to either the nominated Area Web Editor or the Royal Signals Webmaster.

This information can be in the form of a text or Word document or an e-mail. The BIM does not need to know how to create a web page. That is the responsibility of the Royal Signals Webmaster or Area Web Editor.

Ideally the BIM will have access to the Internet, though if this is a problem information can be copied to Floppy Disk or CD and posted.

If you are not a member of a Branch, but would like to offer your services to a branch, then again please contact the Association Headquarters.

We are currently looking for BIMs for the following RSA branches:

Brighton Coventry Nottingham Shropshire
Hartlepool Jersey Winchester Salisbury
Scarborough Southport Bournemouth Bedford
Berwick Birmingham Chesterfield Bristol
Catterick Chester East London Colchester
Cornwall Darlington Newcastle Exmouth
Lincoln Loughborough Torbay
South London South Staffs Guernsey

Commitment

If you are reading this article then you have already passed the first test. We know that committing yourself to helping a Branch may seem like a lot of work, however you would be wrong. Most branches have 3 web pages, a Home Page, Committee page and events page. In addition Branches may have a few photo galleries, a history page an AGM page, Branch minutes and a contacts pages.

Of these the events page will need updating once every 2 months, the home page needs reviewing every 3-6 months and the committee page may need updating annually. Amending a page takes a few minutes. Creating a page can take up to 30 minutes.

If you ever get stuck the Royal Signals Webmaster and his assistant are available during working hours to fix the problem.

In total your commitment to a branch will be no more than a weekend's work a year. If you are interested please contact Association Headquarters at: rsa@royalsignals.mod.uk or the Royal Signals Webmaster at: webmaster@royalsignals.mod.uk
