Royal Signals Association - Finance

Introduction

The main source of income for The Association is by serving soldiers, who contribute to Corps Funds through the 'Days Pay Scheme' - basically a days pay is contributed every year. This is supplemented by miscellaneous donations from branches and individuals, plus the occasional legacy. All such donations are most gratefully received and are used specifically on welfare.

Purpose of Corps Funds

Corps Funds are regulated by a Trust Deed that is registered with the Charity Commissioners
and which sets out the main purpose for which they may be used. These are:

• The relief of poverty among all members of the Corps, serving and retired, their families and dependants. This is the main area of expenditure.

• Donations to charitable organisations concerned with the welfare of Signallers and their dependants.

• Maintaining and improving the physical efficiency and morale of the Corps at large by the provision of funds for such activities as sport and adventure training and the preservation of the Corps heritage.

How are the Corps Funds Structured?

There are three main funds known collectively as the Royal Signals Benevolent Fund. These are:

• The Corps Fund - used to fund all-rank activities.

• The Officers Fund - used principally to fund officers' activities.

• The Association Fund - for the provision of welfare and benevolence.

Expenditure from these funds can only be made in accordance with the Trust Deed and in compliance with Charity Law.

Summary

The Day's Pay Scheme continues to be extremely well supported by the Corps and RHQ is most grateful to all those who contribute. However, the call on Corps Funds is constantly increasing and every subscription is vital in ensuring that the current level of support can be maintained.
