THE MERCIAN REGIMENTAL HISTORY

The history of the Regiment is not just the dusty and dry documents within its Archives, nor the deeds and actions of those who have served in our antecedent regiments since the 17th Century. It is being made here and now in the 21st Century in troubled spots all over the World by soldiers from the Counties and Shires between the three great rivers of Severn, Mersey and Trent.

The Regimental Museums of our antecedent regiments are the Keepers of that history and all soldiers and potential recruits should, if they cannot visit their local museum, take the time to read the brief histories on this website by following the links on the left, so they can understand the valuable legacy left to them by the steadfastness and robustness of their forebears.

All soldiers should also be aware that their deeds and actions of today in conflicts such as Iraq and Afghanistan form the framework of the ongoing history of the Mercian Regiment.
