Station Radio C13

Vehicle-based voice AM/FM and CW system with LP/HP facilities for regimental roles, using channels at 2.5 kHz from 1.5 to 12 MHz, crystal calibrated at 10 kHz intervals.

Power provided by either 12 or 24V battery for C13 and consumed at 70 to 140W or 24V battery for C13 HP, using Amplifier RF No 7 and consuming 84 to 740W.

RF output 0.5W AM or 1W FM/CW LP role, 8W AM or 16W FM/CW HP role or 200W for C13 HP.

With 12ft rod antenna and TRFA No 11, ranges are 15 miles AM, 20 miles FM and 40 miles CW. With end-fed dipole, sky wave range is up to 200 miles. With antenna loading coil on C13 HP, voice range is up to 40 miles and CW range up to 80 and with braid end-fed antenna, sky wave range for C13 HP is up to 400 miles. Whip and telescopic mast antennas can also be used.

Unit is 14 x 8.5 x 14.5 in and weighs 48 lb. Power units are 8 x 8.5 x 14.5 and 8 x 8 x 16 in and weigh 35 and 45 lb for C13 and C13 HP respectively. TRFA is 5.5 in diameter x 12.5 in and weighs 9 lb. Loading coil assembly is 12 x 10 x 8 in and weighs 20 lb. Whole station weighs over 140 lb.

C13 HP transmission requires at least 12ft of antenna and is limited to 5 minutes continuous.
