Sport Climbing (SC) is an official Army sport. Its promotion and development is the responsibility of the AMA). The AMA promotes SC through several competitions and events throughout the year, including monthly training and participation at international events. The main aim of SC within the Army is to improve Army climbers technical climbing ability through the use of indoor climbing walls and regular competitions. Organisation. Army SC is organised by the SC sub committee of the AMA and consists of the following members: Vice Chairman SC, Secretary SC, Bouldering Representative, Divisional Representatives, Army Team Manager and webmaster. These are all volunteer posts. To contact a member of the SC committee click here.
SC Season. The SC season runs throughout the year with the main Army event being concentrated between Jan and May and includes the following competitions: Bouldering Championships, Divisional Championships and Army Championships. The competitions are open to both regular and volunteer reserve soldiers (TA & OTC). Other event include the Interservice Championships and French Army Championships. An Army Team (Regular Army only) is selected anually to compete at the Interservice Climbing Championships. In addition selected Army climbers have the opportunity to compete at other Military Forces Climbing Championships.  To see this years events click here.

 

Funding. The (ASCB) normally donates a grant to the AMA towards the development of Sport Climbing within the Army. Competitions are underwritten by the AMA and are usually self-funding. The contributes to Army Sport Climbing and many other Army Sports. For an application form visit the site.

 Sponsorship. Cotswold Outdoor, High Places (suppliers of Edelweiss ropes, Kong Climbing Equipment and Lucky Climbing Equipment) and Entre Prises Climbing Walls sponsor Army SC.
Army Team. The Army Team is selected from the regular Army and consists of a Senior, Junior (Under 25) and Ladies team. Training and coaching sessions are organised monthly and prior to the Inter Service Championships. The Army Senior team are currently the Inter-Service Champions. All Army Team personell must join the AMA and contribute to the Army Sports Lottery.
Army colours are awarded for representation at Army level competitions and services to Army Sport Climbing at the discretion of the AMA committee.
