Digitalizing 35mm slides
HAVE YOU GOT ANY 35mm SLIDES FROM AN AMA EXPEDITION ?
If so, the AMA Comms Officer would like to hear from you. During the AMA 50th year it was decided to try and digitalise the archive of AMA PXR's including 35mm slides - thus preserving them for future generations of the AMA.
If you have any slides from the early expedition years of the AMA could you please email Tomo Thompson with a brief description of subject and the number of slides. Once the total size of the task has been appreciated, the AMA will then, with your agreement, pay for the slides to be collected from your home and securely mailed to a genius who will then transfer them to a digital format, then return the slides and a copy of the digital format to you. You will then be able to upload a picture of you larking around in Kanchenjunga Base Camp in 1959 on to your Facebook profile !!!
The ultimate aspiration is to have a (very big) portable hard-drive in the AMA office indexed with every PXR and photo ever taken on an AMA exped on it. Please get in touch if you have any slides.
(Unfortunately we are unable to offer this service for the slides taken of you and Brenda in Benidorm in 1964 !!!!)
