The Home of British Army Telemark Skiing
The Army Telemark Ski Association (ATSA) was set up in 2007 to promote Telemark skiing at all levels within the British Army. Since then, we have become a focal point for Telemark racing within the UK armed forces and for UK civilians; we welcome and encourage all participants.
We have held an Army Telemark Championships in Rauris, Austria, for the last three years, each of which has been open to RN and RAF skiers, UK Civilians and non-UK military teams. In 2010 we hosted a World Cup Telemark event, attended by 12 nations, and we also ran a Telemark event at the Inter Services championship at Meribel.
ATSA Aims
- Encourage new telemarkers to start racing.
- Run an annual Telemark championships. Through this, promote RN, RAF & Inter-Services Telemark racing, and provide a focus for British Telemark racing; this event is therefore open to RN, RAF, UK Civilian and other military competitors, with individual and team prizes awarded accordingly.
- Send a British Army team to the Inter Services Championships.
- Support GB Telemark - the focus for the British national team.
News - Recognised Status
Telemark has been granted Recognised Winter Sports status, which significantly improves the situation regarding funding for military competitors. The Army Winter Sports Association (AWSA) is writing a financial guide for Winter Sports; a copy will be posted here when available.
